Rob Reiner is an American actor, director, producer, and writer. He is best known for his roles in the films Stand by Me, The Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally, and A Few Good Men. He has also directed and produced a number of successful films, including Misery, The American President, and The Bucket List. Reiner was born on March 6, 1947, in The Bronx, New York City, to Estelle Reiner (née Lebost) and Carl Reiner, a renowned comedian, actor, director, producer, and writer. He has two siblings, a brother, Lucas, and a sister, Annie. Reiner attended the University of California, Los Angeles, where he studied drama. He began his career as an actor in the 1960s, appearing in television shows such as All in the Family and The Dick Van Dyke Show. He made his feature film debut in 1971 in the comedy Where's Poppa? Reiner has since gone on to direct and produce a number of successful films, including When Harry Met Sally, A Few Good Men, The American President, and The Bucket List. He has also directed and produced a number of television shows, including The Good Wife, The Bernie Mac Show, and The New Adventures of Old Christine. Reiner has been married twice. He was first married to actress Penny Marshall from 1971 to 1981. He then married Michele Singer in 1989, and the couple has three children together.
